I needed emergency surgery for several prolapsed grade 4 hemorrhoids and went to seek out surgery through my Kaiser insurance. Despite my primary care physician agreeing that surgery was needed as soon as possible, they still informed that it would take at least a few weeks to get an appointment and informed me that the recovery process for a hemorrhoidectomy was extremely long and painful, and meanwhile I was in severe pain. Coming home dejected and in pain, I decided to do some research to find out detailed information about the recovery process, and through this research I stumbled along Dr. Chung's YouTube channel- Your Friendly Procologist. He seemed very experienced and knowledgeable and his YouTube videos were extremely helpful in learning more about the treatment and prevention of hemorrhoids, in very informative and detailed videos. I decided to give him a call and explained to him that I was in extreme pain and Kaiser did not have an appointment for a few weeks. To my surprise, Dr. Chung himself answered the phone and we spent a good amount of time discussing all the surgery options and how the recovery process would be and in the end, he made time out of his schedule to see me the very next day. I am so grateful to have found him and for his support. . Dr. Chung has excellent bedside manner and professionalism. I felt supported every step of the way through my recovery process. He would call me twice a day to check in and answer any questions that I had throughout the entire recovery process. He helped to reduced a-lot of my anxiety and thanks to his diligence and guidance there were no post-surgery complications, and recovery was a breeze thanks to him. Although is it common knowledge that this procedure is one the most painful recovery periods due to the sensitive placement of stitches, however, the pain management support from Dr. Chung ensured that my level of pain was never intolerable compared to how excruciating it was in other peoples experienced that was shared on YouTube. Dr. Chung is the most amazing surgeon for the treatment of hemorrhoids. He is one of the best surgeons that I have ever come across and will recommend him to family and friends and enthusiastically write this review and cannot say enough amazing things about him.

Saw Dr. Chung in March 2022 for a second opinion after being told my only option was hemoroidectomy. Doctor Chung was able to remove my bleeding external hemoroid with an in office procedure that took about twenty minutes. Pain only lasted a day and a half and i am now fully recovered and grateful to Dr. Chung. High level of expertise and knowledge, and he's very friendly and professional too. Dr Chung has to be the best Dr. Ever! I suffered with an issue that my "regular" Dr. didn't detect and the problem went on for 10 months; (10 long frustrating months). After one Visit with Dr. Chung My problem was resolved. Praise God for Dr. Chung.

I literally couldn't move from my bed for days since I was in so much pain from my HEMORRHOIDSSS... Yes, yes, I said that word, and yes, that's plural. Idk why it's such a taboo subject; it's a common issue that haunts many. I hear Voldemort's name referenced to more often than hemorrhoids. That makes it difficult for people to search for appropriate help, which is perplexing cause I know I'm not the only one ailing like so...LOL. Shit happens, life happens. It's good to talk about things so people feel less alone... Anyways, I called Dr. Chung a couple of times again recently before committing to see him - even if I was being annoying with my erratic phone calls and concerns, Dr. Chung was patient. I believe his pricing is very fair and transparent - he disclosed all the details so I wasn't blindsided with a cost. It is $400 for a consultation that's about an hr. Considering that my co-pay would've been $80 for a specialist anyways, it felt like it wasn't that's steep or a cost. (Or maybe that's cause I got a couple of raises recently, and that's the lifestyle creep talking, ahaha. Just kidding; prioritize your health people! Don't let things exacerbate and worsen cause that'll cost more...!) The procedure for removing a hemorrhoid is a separate $400 if it's done in office. The doctor prefers banding for the procedure. Please note if you have multiple hemorrhoids that require attention, that will likely require a separate visit for ease of healing and recovery (to mitigate the risk of infection). Dr. Chung doesn't take insurance but does provide a superbill so you can open a claim with your insurance in hopes of getting reimbursement. This is a gamble, but regardless if I get reimbursed or not, I thought it was still worth the visit to have peace of mind. Dr. Chung was able to see me the same day I called, which is really nice..when I tried calling another provider what was well rated, the first available appotnment would've been 1 week out. In regards to the Dr, he has a good sense of humor and accomodating bedside manners. It's an awkward topic and consultation, but being able to joke about it with some light self-deprecating humor made the experience not so bad. Maybe this part is TMI since I'm putting the Dr on blast...I'm nosy so I asked Dr if he had hemorrhoids before and he has - got it removed by his wife (I think it was grade 3?) and supposedly he shared his experience on YouTube (I didn't watch so not sure if it's actually there). Kinda reassuring to have a doctor who can relate to your pain and better empathize, I suppose. I'm only disclosing cause if he shared his experience online, I'm assuming he wouldn't mind if I mentioned it on Yelp. Makes him seem more relatable and trustworthy as a professional. Overall, highly recommend even though I hope to never have to see Dr Chung again...or any proctologist for that matter...no offense intended, LOL. But if I had to resort to one, I'd see Dr. Chung.

Today is 17 days after my surgery and I want to tell the whole world that Dr. Chung is an amazing surgeon and human being. He is absolutely the best. Patient, kind, knowledgeable, and gentle. I had issues with hemorrhoids for years. I had a very poor quality of life as a result of internal bleeding hemorrhoids, trying every cream, ointment and suppository that I could get my hands on, all to no avail. I went into the appointment knowing I would receive care - the simplest expectation of any doctor visit - but I had no idea I would be so well-cared for. Dr. Chung took care of me in a really fantastic and wholesome way - from personally picked up my phone call for first consultation to after-surgery appointments. Entire process took place within 2 weeks. The recovery is tough, but I feel better and better each day. Dr. Chung made the entire process easier from beginning to end by being extremely caring and supportive. I have never met such a top doctor who's so humble and kind as him. There are great doctors and then there is Dr. Albert Chung who take his profession to another level. Words are inadequate to describe my experience with this amazing person. My brother and I visited Dr. Chung with my father yesterday as my father was experiencing constipation from taking pain killers after a vascular surgery. In a nutshell, he went to work on my father and let's just say that he took care of the problem. Believe me when I say that the type of procedure that was being performed is something that can be described as being unpleasant at best but Dr. Chung made the experience as good as it could be. We found Dr.. Chung to be extremely knowledgeable, thorough, humble, polite, empathetic ... I can really go on and on. He took time to speak with all of us before and after the procedure. He even took our phone calls on the same evening to address our concerns. We would highly recommend Dr. Chung to anyone that needs a colorectal specialist. He has excellent academic credentials and experience (as evidenced by multitude of 5 star reviews). It's hard for me to think that there could be any doctor that are better than Dr. Chung. Dr. Albert Chung is the best! I casually called in to inquire about an appointment, and was surprised to speak to the man himself. Not only that, but he was able to see me immediately! He was extremely polite and very transparent and exact about his fees over the phone before I made the decision to drive over. 30 minutes later, I'm in his office and greeted personally by him! Dr. Chung took his time to explain everything to me and even drew it out for me on his tablet. Having to discuss these types of things can be embarrassing for a lot of people, but Dr. Chung has such a friendly and down to earth demeanor that made me feel comfortable about opening up to him. Plus, I never felt rushed at all, which is extremely rare with a doctor! He made sure to ask me MULTIPLE times throughout the appointment if I had any more questions. He was even able to do the procedure immediately! I was feeling pretty nervous because I tend to be pretty resistant to local anesthesia, but Dr. Chung put me at ease and guaranteed that he would make sure I would feel no pain. I was skeptical because I've heard that promise many times from doctors before and always ended up feeling SOMETHING, but sure enough, I didn't feel a THING AT ALL. That was a first for me! This guy really knows what he's doing. He was very communicative with me and made sure I was comfortable at all times. After a short 20 minutes, it was all over, and I was so pleased with the results! And he must be amazing at stitches or something because once the anesthesia wore off, I only felt a slight amount of soreness for 2 hours at most, and haven't felt anything since then. Seriously, Dr. Chung is honestly one of the coolest doctors I've ever met. He was extremely easy to talk to and we even cracked a lot of jokes, which made for a very comfortable, no-pressure atmosphere. On top of that, I personally think his prices are very reasonable, which is especially great for a doctor that doesn't take any insurance. He definitely lives up to all these 5-star reviews!!!2

dr albert is such an amazing doctor i chose him based on a referral from a friend ! i was very comfortable discussing my concern about a big skin tag i have on my rectum . many doctors refuse to take it off saying there is a risk and complication if i do . while dr albert was very confident of himself and was able to do the surgery with zero complication and the area look now super flat , smooth and healthy !! this doctor brought back confidence & happiness to my life !! words can't express how amazing he is !!!

My husband was referred to Dr. Chung after seeing his GI for a very painful hemorrhoid. I was surprised to have Dr. Chung personally pick up the phone when I called to set up an appointment. He was very pleasant and accommodating. My husband was able to see Dr. Chung the same day. Once we got to the office, Dr. Chung thoroughly explained what he would do and proceeded with the examination. My husband decided to go ahead with the procedure to speed up the healing process with hesitation because of the sensitivity of the area and how much pain he would be in. The entire process from beginning to end was absolutely fantastic. Yes, my husband would say that it did hurt but it could've been a lot worst. Dr. Chung was incredibly personable, professional, thorough, reassuring, and very funny. I will say that although we do carry medical insurance, Dr. Chung does not accept any insurance but did give us a super bill that we will send out to our insurance for reimbursement. I'm relieved and grateful to say the least that during this COVID time and seeing my poor husband in utter pain that we were able to come see Dr. Chung. Dr Chung is a very personable and caring physician. I was extremely nervous before my procedure and he walked me through the entire process and made sure i was comfortable and made it was as painless as possible. He answered all my questions during my consultation and the day of the procedure as well. He is very thorough and informative and takes his time with the patient. I found Dr. Chung through my own online search. As soon as I watched his brief you tube presentation, working myself as a physician I realized that he is a genuine doctor. When I saw him, he proved that my assumption was correct. Dr. Chung took extra time to understand my history, asked questions and provided detailed answers to my questions. He's very knowledgable but that's not distinguishes him from his colleagues but what makes him unique that nowadays you won't find many is his demeanor and bed side manner. The fact that his practice is not revenue driven like unfortunately more that 95% of other physicians. As a doctor I highly recommend Dr. Chung to patients who need his expertise!

Dr. Chung was extremely punctual (he only schedules one patient at a time in lengthy time blocks) went over my previous history with me, performed an exam, diagnosed a problem I was unaware of and had mis-self-diagnosed, discussed options, and suggested some behavioral changes in an attempt to alleviate the problem. He did suggest an in-office procedure (no surgery) that we're holding off on as I'm not in extreme discomfort. Anyway I found Dr. Chung very thoughtful, friendly, a good listener, and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the problem and what to try and do about it. He seems like someone who will be excellent to work with on an attempt to heal or improve my situation long-term. This is only a first experience and exam (no surgery) but truly one of the best doctor experiences I've had in awhile. Highly recommended.

I have visited Dr. Chung at End of October due to my severe both external and internal hemorrhoids. He is very knowledgeable and experienced rectum surgeon. I was able to get a surgery right away. The hemorrhoids procedure was so successful that I have been fully recovered in a short time. Besides, he really takes care of his patients and offers all the post-surgery checks free. I would highly recommend Dr. Chung for such surgery procedure.

Overall, I am glad that I didn’t go to the insurance system doctors. They all busy and not gonna listen to me and no even answer my calls. I am extremely happy with Dr. Chung.

First of all I never write reviews, but when it comes to my health I have to spread the word and let people out there know there are good doctors. This doctor, Albert Chung is amazing. He listens and actually cares about what’s going on with you. He doesn’t rush you or make you feel like your taking too long to explain your issue. I thought I would feel weird or uncomfortable having a man look at my bum, but he is very professional and made me feel at ease. Thank you Dr. Chung !!

Dr. Chung did surgery for my husband. He is very good at what he does. He has great follow up, is easy to get a hold of, (even after hours) realistic, caring and talented. We were referred to him by our primary doctor, who we later thanked for such a great referral. Dr Chung was amazing. The problem he operated on is solved and healing ahead of schedule even.
